Description Yamagata City, formerly known as Mogami-go and as the home base of merchants, nourished tradesmen through the processing and shipping of the safflower plant, and laid the foundation of the city, leaving many types of heritage. Today, hina byobu depict the process of preparing safflower plants, lively wholesalers, and the movement of ships at Tsuruga Port (present Fukui Prefecture). (Prefectural designated cultural asset)
