One of the events of the cherry blossom festival, this annual "shogi" (Japanese chess) game is played with real human chess pieces on a giant chess board amidst a sea of cherry blossoms; the moves are called by professional chess players, while the "pieces" are dressed in medieval Japanese costume. |
