This is an year-end "mochi"(rice cake) pounding event, giving thanks for good harvest as well as praying for health, protection from disasters and family safety. After the mochi rice cakes are produced, they are raised high up in the air by a Senbon pestle. This is designated by Kaminoyama City as an intangible cultural property. |
