| The contents of a guide | Excellent scenery of the entire mountain of Yamadera in both spring with its fresh greenery and fall with its many colors. Here Jikaku Daishi (Ennin) built many temples which flourished as a locus for mountain ascetic religion. Also Matsuo Basho on his long walk called "The Narrow Road to the Deep North" visited Yamadera and left a famous haiku about cicadas. We will guide you to these and other old sites. | |
