![]() Yamagata Prefecture stretches from the Japan sea and the beaches of the coastal Shonai plain in the east to the Zao mountain range in the west; the spectacular mount Chokai in the north to the Yonezawa basin in the south. Yamagata has a wide range of hot springs, with at least one in every city, town and village, there are abundant ski slopes, hiking courses and numerous other outdoor pursuits, together with a long history and rich culture. The scenery and natural surroundings are breathtaking, food such as fruit, rice and beef, along with the sake is delicious and plentiful, but above all else, it is the people that makes Yamagata what it is. Admittedly, this is not the most famous place in Japan, but it is not a place you should miss. |
