Japan's Biggest Imoni Festival (Yamagata City)
September is the month of imoni (taro potato stew) parties called imonikai in Yamagata Prefecture. This month, people in Yamagata love to sit around a pot of delicious imoni while having a fun time with their family members, friends, or colleagues at the riverside or on the beach. It all starts with Japan’s Biggest Imoni Festival on September 3 in Yamagata City, your first chance of the year to experience the taste of autumn.
